About The NICHOL Family of Tennessee and Illinois - one family's genealogy and history
Please sign in to see more.
Will Nichol was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1783. He married Jane Stuart of Wheeling, West Virginia. They moved to the Knoxville, Tennessee area by 1840. The family lived in Anderson, Roane, and Knox counties until the beginning of the Civil War. Three boys fought for the Union in Co K of the 1st Tennessee Infantry. A fourth joined the 154th Illinois Infantry Co. F. To escape the war, Will took the rest of his family along the Buffalo Trace to Randolph County, Illinois and settled in Southern Illinois. When the war ended, some siblings raised their family in Williamson County, Illinois and some in Roane, Anderson, Morgan and Bradley counties in Tennessee.

I have been interested in genealogy for some 30 years, but I have done this work since the summer of 2002.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
